There are many different options here:

speedferries logoSpeedferries (www.speedferries.com) operate a service from Dover to Boulogne. Crossings start from about 0730 hrs and continue throughout the day until about 2300 hrs in the summer months. It is a "no-frills" cheap and cheerful service and offers probably the cheapest and fastest (55 mins) channel crossing (by ferry).

P & O Ferries () run up to 25 crossings a day from Dover to Calais. The crossings take approximately 2 hours. They also operate an overnight service from Hull to Zeebrugge which is convenient for travellers from the north of England or Scotland.

Brittany Ferries (www.brittanyferries.com) run crossings from Dover to Calais and Portsmouth to Caen, Cherbourg and St Malo. They also run crossings from Poole to Cherbourg and Plymouth to Roscoff. For those travelling from Ireland, Brittany Ferries also operates a service from Cork to Roscoff.

 

norfolk line logoNorfolk Lines (www.norfolkline-ferries.co.uk) run a service that takes just 1 hour 45 minutes from Dover to Dunkerque. With direct links to the A16 motorway, the Dover Dunkerque route can be more convenient than Calais.
