Eurostar ()
Book this well in advance and you can get a very good price. Well worth it if there is only one or two of you joining a group who already has a car, though of course you could opt for car hire as well for the ultimate of easy journeys. It is easier to tie in with the Montrichard trains as there is more choice than the plane arrival times.
The all-in-one “cheap” ticket takes you all the way to Tours , St.Pierre des Corps. You should book it more than 2 weeks in advance (watch out if it is during a bank holiday, French or English, cheap seats will be scarce so book up to 2 months in advance), it must include a Saturday and a Sunday night and the ticket is completely non- transferable and non-refundable, so be sure of your dates before booking. It can cost as little as £60 return but more likely £90.
Eurostar leaves from Waterloo and the gate closes 40 minutes before departure. After this they simply won't let you on. Change at Lille for St.Pierre des Corps (this side of Tours ) or, if there isn't the connection there you can go Waterloo / Paris Gare de Nord, cross Paris and get the TGV down to St.Pierre des Corps. This is messy and will be a slightly more expensive ticket.
